Introduction

Hi! Been in Korea for about a decade as an English teacher. My love for teaching and my love for comedy are in constant competition. Maybe I should fuse English teaching and stand-up into something new. Won't you join me on this comic adventure?

Why do you want to learn how to perform stand-up comedy?

I've always been a funny guy, and people have told me for years I should go into this. I am am interested in combining comedy with English teaching in, say, educational TV.

Who are your comedic influences?

Tom Lehrer, George Carlin, Gary Larson, "Weird" Al Yankovich, Peter Schickele, Anna Russell -- and those are my strictly comedy influences. Non-comedy influences include Ayn Rand, Leonard Peikoff, and lots intellectual college courses.

I'm a bit nervous about getting on stage. How about you?

Well, I am getting better at this actually. Now I just feel stupid when things don't work, but I feel redeemed and excited when they do.

Why do you want to learn how to perform stand-up comedy?

I am funny but I need to learn how to unleash my natural sense of humor in a way that can cool. I think I could make some good money at this, insofar as it makes me think, perform, come up with interesting things.
