Hey Comics, Comedy Writers & Holiday Haters! This month we're meeting up at my Downtown LA studio to run material. Come with new jokes, scenes, or anything you just want to run past humans instead of the voices in your head and your imaginary friends. I'm writing new material for my show "Thank You for Firing Me" which will go nationwide in '09 as a platform for the book I have coming out in 2010. (I just signed a 3 book deal with a publisher in NY) This meetup is for people who are working on PROJECTS and MATERIAL. If you aren't working on anything but "want to"... and you dont have anything to read or perform for us... then the place to be is a workshop or class. DO not show up empty handed. Last time that happened, the life got sucked out of the room, and I wanted to charge the people who showed up with nada. No nada! Bring material. You can also bring snacks, booze, santa claus costumes, porn...or whatever your vice is -- as long as you bring material. I'll have a mic and an amp... Its a cool modern high-rise and we may as well enjoy it before the bank forecloses!

Hey Everyone! If you haven't been to any of our meetups yet, this is a good time to come introduce yourself, see the Pretty Funny Women comedy showcase and also meet Lisa Sundstedt, the host and producer of Pretty Funny Women. This is an all female line up of comics and of course- all you GUYS are welcome! There are some AMAZINGLY funny women in this show!
There is a $10 cover I'll be in the show doing a 7 minute set for taping to send to the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. We can introduce ourselves to each other before the show, and hang out afterward if you're all juiced up with hot girly comedy energy. Come early for appetizers and sweet treats! If there's any women in this group who would like to get into Lisa's workshops or punch up classes, I highly recommend it. You get a great DVD of the showcase, and she often puts people in her classes in the Pretty Funny Women shows when they're ready to kick ass! Sorry Dudes, Lisa's Classes are only for women, but if you need a workshop I highly recommend Greg Dean. His joke writing technique is brilliant. If you never met me before...I'll be wearing cat ears, (its too much strain on my neck to pose at the angle I'm at in my headshot. Hey Comics-- If any of you would like to do a bringer show at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, I recommend we meet there early-ish before the show in the Belly Room to bounce some jokes around and get to know each other. I will be doing an 8 minute set that night at 8:30.
If you come to the show you can meet the booker and give her your card, and see if you can get scheduled to do a set there. You would also be helping me out if you come to the show with your support. I suggest we all go to eachother's bringer shows, so we can get some decent stage time and go on early. Usually they put you on last or not at all if you dont have at least 5 people there to support you. Yeah it sucks that theres a $10 cover charge, but think of it as an investment into your future as a booked comedian. Exposure is important and the more we get out and do these high profile places, the better our set gets and the more we get known. If you are performing somewhere and want the group to come support you==please send an email with the details & post it on the message board. The whole group will be notified. ---KAYYYY???

Hey Comics! OK heres the place: Open Mic night at Westwood Brewing Co. Come and try some of your new jokes, old jokes. and get some stage time...or just watch the comics and get ideas...write jokes on napkins or on your electronic gadget. Me, I prefer to write jokes while I am tatooing someone with my electric tatoo needle.
I first write the rough draft in any blank flesh I can find...then later re-write it on a more visible place--like a persons forehead. When I am not permanently imbedding jokes into people's flesh, I am doing open mic. See you tomorrow night YO!!!!!!!!!!!! Kitty Martini

Yeah, I know you should never do comedy during the day...but I think its OK to WRITE or do a run thru before dark. El Cid's Website! Hi People, If you havent checked out Garage Comedy...you probably SHOULD! Its all kinds of sketch, film and prop comedy--the perfect thing to end our meeting with. We will meet before the 9PM show...This will be our FIRST meet & greet since I started as organizer here in LA. If you have material you want to work on...or some sort of support you need, or if you just want to get into the Funny Zone..,come on down. Lets meet outside on the patio. Then, after our meet up, if anyone wants to stay to see Garage Comedy...its a free show & $3 beers.
